Our Association, namely the Dakshina Kannada Automobile and Tyre Dealers' Association, was established in the year 1984 with an idea to encourage and create a feeling of unity, mutual help and co-operation amongst dealers engaged in the Automobile and Tyre Trade in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada and also to safeguard their interest through combined action. After bifurcation of the undivided Dakshina Kannada District into Dakshina Kannada District which comprises of Mangalore and Udupi District in the year 1997, the Association has been catering to the needs of the Dealers in both Districts. The Association presently has a membership of nearly 300 dealers including Life Members, Regular Members and Patrons spread over Dakhina Kannada and Udupi Districts. The Association is affiliated to Federation of Karnataka Automobile Dealers and Allied Industries Associations, Bangaluru, the Karnataka Automobile Parts and Allied Merchants Association, (KAPAMA), Bengaluru, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mangaluru and the Federation of All India Automobile Spare Parts Dealers Associations (FAIASPDA), New Delhi. The objective of any trade body is not only to protect and promote the particular trade, but also to facilitate better understanding and harmonious relationship between members. Hence besides conducting activities connected with the trade, the Association is also organising picnics for the families of Member Dealers wherein women and children also take part. The Annual General Body Meetings are organised like a grand function. It is always a well conducted event and celebrated like a Dealers GET-TOGETHER. Well known Automobile Dealers, Distributors and Auto Spares Manufacturers take part by displaying their products which helps to educate Members on the new innovations developments in the Automobile Trade and Industry. Veteran members are bestowed with Lifetime Achivement Award during these events so that they may inspire the younger generation towards higher goals. During these events the Association has also introduced the practice of felicitating the academic achivements of the members' and their employees' children. This will not only encourage the young achievers but also enable the entire family to feel a sense of pride and belonging to automobile trade. The Association is also extending its helping hand to social causes and also during National Calamities. We have a State Federation, namely the Federation of Karanataka Automobile Dealers and Allied Industries Associations, Bengaluru. All the District Automobile Associations are affilioated to this Federation. During the years 2003-2005, the choice fell on the Dakshina Kannada Automobile and Tyre Dealers Association, Mangaluru to take over the reigns of the Federation. Our Association managed the affairs of the Federation so well and all the District Associations in the State were activated. People still remember those years as the Golden Period of Karnataka Federation. The Association is very happy & proud to say that it is the only District Association in the State of Karnataka to have its own building AUTO BHAVAN, and a news bulletin AUTO SANDESH, which is published once in three months. The Association is well managed under the leadership of Sri Maroor Padmanabha Pai, who is fully supported by the Managing Committee and the Members. Today, we can proudly say that The Dakshina Kannada Automobile and Tyre Dealers Association aspires to be a model Association which nurtures the dream to reach out to every member and make a difference to automobile trade and to society in general.
